Minimum Age for Scuba Diving Certification

by Anonymous

How old do you have to be to go scuba diving?

Hi,

The minimum required age for scuba diving is a question I get asked quite a bit. I like getting this question because it means someone is interested in getting certified to go scuba diving.

Hopefully you won't mind, but I am going to refer you to some other pages on my website where I answer this question in depth. If you need additional information, feel free to contact me.

If you get certified, please let us know how it goes. We would love to hear from you.

The resource pages where you can find the answer to your question about scuba diving age are:

How old do you have to be to get certified

Age requirement for junior open water certification

You can also find this information along with additional requirements to get certified on our page about scuba diving certification requirements

Thanks for the question.

Age For Scuba Diving - Minimum Age To Dive

by Kate

Hi,

I would like to know what are the main ages for scuba diving?

Hi Kate,

From your question, I take it to mean what are the minimum age requirements for scuba diving. You will be able to find that information on my scuba certification page.

If you mean what are the main ages of people that scuba dive - I can try and answer that. I have never seen any statistics on this so my answer is only from my personal observations. The typical age of divers I have seen during my dive career.

If I had to venture a guess, I would say the majority of scuba divers are in the 25-45 age range with the emphasis toward the older category.

It has been my observation that most people diving are in this age range. It could be that since it is not an inexpensive sport (see cost of scuba diving page for more details), it may be out of reach for younger people.

And as divers get older, physical problems may limit their ability to dive.

If anyone has any other observations or facts on the age of scuba divers, I would be happy to hear it.

Hoped this answered your question. Thanks for getting in touch.

Dianne
