Snorkeling and/or Scuba Diving at Buck Island, St. Croix US Virgin Islands

Hi,

I love this location for diving because it has one of the only three Underwater National Monuments in the United States. It's natural beauty will captivate you. Buck Island is only accessible by boat, but is a MUST SEE whenever you visit St.Croix US Virgin Islands.

Hi Arlene,

Thanks for giving your vote to Buck Island, St. Croix. We went diving in St. Croix but never made it to Buck Island .

(You can read our St. Croix dive trip report here. However, another reader wrote in and had a different review of diving in St. Croix, Virgin Islands. You can read his report here.)

I looked up Buck Island and it certainly looks beautiful. I read that Turtle Beach was voted one of the world's most beautiful beaches by National Geographic. Not too shabby.

The underwater trail off of Buck Island looks like it would be fun. I have a question though - did you scuba dive there or did you snorkel? I think both would be fun but it seems like most people just snorkel at Buck Island.

For those interested in trying this location for snorkeling (possibly diving?) it is located just off of Christiansted, St. Croix in the United States Virgin Islands. Tour operators run both half day and full day excurions to the island.

This attraction is also rated #3 out of 70 attractions by TripAdvisor. You can read other readers reviews here.

However, reading through the reviews, they seem a bit mixed - especially if you are an experienced snorkeler. The experience seems to get a high mark and the beauty of the place comes through. It is the reviews of the actual snorkeling itself that is a bit mixed.

I would like to know if any of our readers have experience with Buck Island in St. Croix. If you have been there, what did you like about and what didn't you? What was your experience like underwater here? It would be interesting to get other people's impressions here. You can leave your comments below.

Thanks again for your vote - we always like to get input on people's favorite destinations.

Dianne
