Get You Underwater

Certification, Safety and More

Are you interested in scuba diving? Here you'll find all the scuba diving information you need to get you underwater and get you on your way to your scuba diving certification.

If you haven't read it already, you might want to check out our page of scuba diving basics for an introduction to the sport.

OK, ready? Let's get started.

Information on Scuba Diving

If you have never been underwater, a scuba diving resort course is a great introduction if you get the chance. It will probably be the first of many scuba dive vacations you take. This sport is addicting. Don't say I didn't warn you!scuba diving - diver with gear

Once you are ready to take the full time plunge, you will need to get your scuba diving certification.

We took our scuba diving classes in New York City (Manhattan) so you really can get certified anywhere. They even offer online scuba courses for the book portion of the scuba class as I explain on the certification page.

If you are wondering about the cost of scuba diving (and who isn't) you can find that information here. But I'll warn you, be prepared. Cheap it isn't.

Once you are underwater, there are some scuba diving safety rules you will have to follow. Don't worry, you will find these out in your dive lessons, but if you need a refresher you now know where you can look.

Which leads me to another thing divers are curious about. Just how many scuba diving deaths are there? Not a pleasant subject to think about, but it is a reality. So make sure you follow those scuba diving safety rules.

And no, the main cause of deaths isn't sharks. And yes, if you dive in the Caribbean, chances are you will come across a shark or two. So what is the truth about scuba diving with sharks? I'll give you the lowdown. Don't worry, I have seen many sharks during the course of my diving career and have never had a problem.

Once you get going and get underwater, you can check out my page of scuba diving tips. Lots of scuba diving information here. You'll find tips for controlling buoyancy, improving air consumption, equalizing ears, how much to tip, tips on what to do on a night dive or a boat dive and packing your scuba gear for that scuba dive vacation.

To reach that dive destination, you can try my #1 tip for getting cheap airfare to the Caribbean. If you don't qualify for that tip, then try my other tips for cheap airfare.

And before you go, don't forget to get some scuba diving insurance. I go through all the nitty gritty for you. If you are not sure where to get it, I give you info on some of the top scuba diving insurance providers.

Hopefully I have given you all the scuba diving information you need to get started. If you still have a question, you can ask me here. I would love to hear from you and someone else probably has the same question, so ask away.

Scuba diving is a great sport and I hope you come and join us. So if you think it's for you, go ahead and get started. You'll love it.

Have a great time!
