Scuba Diving in the Philippines: Takatuka Lodge and Dive Resort

by Wayne Emery
(Canada)

The beach at Takatuka

The beach at Takatuka

I would like to tell you about my experience scuba diving in the Philippines at the Takatuka Lodge and dive resort.

As someone in their late 40s who had never dived before and only snorkeled once, I have found a great spot to learn to dive.

Marc, the PADI certified instructor at the Takatuka Lodge and Dive Resort, Sipalay, Negros, Philippines is one of the most patient people I have ever met. Starting with class instruction and easy dives I acquired my Open Water certification in simple progressive steps.

As there are 34 amazing dive sites within a 40 minute boat ride I continued to dive around Sipalay. However, after leaving Negros I had a potentially very nasty dive experience. Apparently not all dive centers are as safe and well run as the Takatuka.

I decided to return and I now have my Advanced Open Water Certification with over 30 dives logged.

I am now confident of diving safely anywhere but not so sure I will find another place with as many spectacular dive sites and with such an astounding variety of fish and aquatic life.
