Cayman Brac Hotels:
There's Not Alot to Choose From

There are not alot of Cayman Brac hotels to choose from. Of course, that can be both a good thing and a bad thing.

On the good side, you don't have to sort through all your options for hours or days. There are only a few to consider.

On the bad side, there are only a few to consider.

Whatever your view is, you still want to make sure you get the best deal available. After all, we work too hard for our money to throw it away.

When we stayed on Cayman Brac, we stayed at the Brac Reef Beach Resort. When we were there, the resort was still showing some damage from a recent hurricane.

But we still enjoyed ourselves and did some good diving (you can read more details on our Cayman Brac diving page. It also includes general info on location, weather, water temperatures, etc.)

Since our visit, Brac Reef was devastated by Hurricane Paloma in 2008 and closed for renovations. They have since reopened (in early 2010) and have been getting some rave reviews. It appears they are better than ever. I will have to check them out again.

I called the Carib Sands Beach Resort (condos) and was able to get through. The person that answered the phone said she thought they opened again in early 2010 but did not seem positive. They now have updated prices on their website so it appears this is now another choice for hotels on Cayman Brac.

Another option would be the The Alexander Hotel which has been getting good reviews. It opened in 2009 so it wasn't there when we were on the island. If you have any experience with this hotel, please let us know.

The Divi Tiara continues to be closed since Hurrican Paloma. This was the second of the two main Cayman Brac resorts.

You can also try the free search engine below to see if anything has reopened. It searches 30 of the biggest accommodation sites and returns the best price available from those sites.

Hopefully, more resorts will be open soon. That way, many of the people on the island will be able to get their main source of income back.
