When Did People Begin Scuba Diving

In what year did scuba diving begin or when was it founded?

Hi,

People began scuba diving in some form or other many, many years ago. And by that we mean hundreds of years ago.

However, when the modern version of scuba diving appeared - which we define as when it started becoming available for the masses - is much more recent. The year that the sport was really revolutionized was 1943.
