Scuba Diving In Bidong: Unfound Jewel In Malaysia; Plus Antigua Diving Review

I just returned from Sipadan which was as billed - but the highlight of our trip was Bidong in Kuala Terranganu with SEA MONKIES.

I only had 2 days. Divemasters in Sipadan never heard of Bidong; noone ever heard of Bidong but it was only place to get to for 2 days of diving out of Kuala Lumpur.

I arrived by plane half hour from Kuala Lumpur. Sea Monkies is housed in an all Muslim resort in Kuala Teranganu. Bidong is a short boat ride and had the best coral anywhere we've been. Absolutely pristine.

Sipadan was great with huge turtles, chevron barracuda tornado, huge school horseeye jacks, sharks BUT BIDONG had best living coral and fantastic fish life.

By the way, whoever knocked Antigua diving missed out. I am here now for 3 days with Marmora Divers at St. James Club.

We had 6 lovely dives. As good, if not better than many other places in the Caribbean.

Today at noon drifting into Carpenters Point was beautiful. Plenty of lobsters - huge - big morays, great but typical fish life, good coral formation and nice topography.

Only booked one day at first because articles said it was so bad. Signed on for 2 more days. Lynn and her captain were kind, gracious and love their work. Very attentive. Don't knock Antigua diving.

Thanks for the nice write-up. Bidong sounds like a wonderful place. I am going to put it on my list for when we get out to that part of the world again.

I am very happy you enjoyed the diving in Antigua. I love the island but, unfortunately, I did not love the scuba diving. Guess I will have to schedule a trip and check it out again :) It is always great to hear other people's experiences.
