My 2 Best Dive Sites: Great Barrier Reef in Australia & The Wall in Silk Caye in Belize.

by Ron Outten

I have 2 best dive sites, 1st is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia & the 2nd is The Wall in the Silk Caye in Belize.

The Great Barrier Reef is really something, you don't have to go deep to enjoy it, we were down approx. 40ft. and there was every thing you could imagine. I was diving about 6ft. away from a Reef Shark, lots of other great fish to see, & the coral was very colourful.

The "Wall" in Belize was my first time at 24m, I had never been below 12m, it was such a rush. There was a lot of fish & other sea life to see. I will never forget this dive as I was coming up to look at something on the wall I run out of air at approx. 18m.

First thing I said to myself you can't panic, I noticed the dive master close & signaled him I was out of air, he came over & I used his other regulator & we went up to 5m for awhile then surfaced.

It was a good dive, I would like to do the wall again this year as we are going back to Belize. If you haven't dove in Australia or Belize you are missing summing, that's my opinion & I am sticking with it.

Thanks for the submission Ron. Glad to see you really enjoyed scuba diving in both places.

I haven't been to the Great Barrier Reef yet but it is on my list of places to dive - and that list keeps on getting longer and longer.

I have dove in Belize several times and have really enjoyed it. I dove in Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker and Placencia. You can read about our dives in Belize here:

Thanks again for the submission. Here's to many more great dives in the future!
